CARING & VISITATION

The Caring and Visitation Committee is involved in assisting the pastoral team in visitations at times when crises or difficulties are being experienced by our congregational members. We try to call or send cards to acknowledge important events, be they either happy or sad. If there have been events when no one from our committee has responded it may be that we were not informed about the difficulties, hospitalization or happy occasion. We appreciate it very much when we are notified as to the events and concerns of our church family. Please keep us informed.

Our committee has put into place bus transportation from Bethany Housing Complex to Nutana Park and Wildwood Mennonite Churches. We feel that this service is to the benefit of both our seniors and to our church family. It has been very well received by our members and friends who reside at Bethany. Should there be any concerns regarding this service, please feel free to call anyone on the committee. We are anxious to offer this service in the way that best suits the needs of those using it. We are aware that this service does not cover other senior members who live elsewhere. Please notify us if you are in need of transportation or other services. Also to congregational members who are providing rides to the various members who are no longer driving independently, we express our thanks to you for this service.

Those members who are experiencing declining health and increased dependency and in some instances where families are at a distance and cannot provide this care, need our support in an ongoing way. Two members of our congregation are installed as a "Standing Members of the Caring and Visitation Committee". They are reimbursed for their mileage and out of pocket expenses.  Their job description to address emerging needs are:

  1. Connect people with the necessary social-medical community resources.
  2. Act as advocate for those for whom the medical-social system is not meeting the needs.
  3. Follow up on individuals referred by Pastoral Team, Caring and Visitation Committee.

We see the evidence of much love and care shown in our church family. We are extremely grateful for all the support provided by our fellow church members. We also wish to thank the members of our Caring and Visitation committee who work diligently throughout the year, each in their unique manner to contribute to the work of the committee.
