WORSHIP
I’ll start with
some typical statistic. Worship services are held on fifty-one
Sundays in our church over the year, and one service is usually held at
Shekinah.
Guest speakers from outside our congregation and lay
members speak as the opportunity presents. Members of our pastoral team speak at
the other services. In addition, the youth and the young adult family groups
each organize and run a service. Many different people, as well
as groups from the young families and youth, serve as worship leaders.
Communion is usually held nine times over the year. Various congregation members supply the bread and wine. We also try some new types of services: a contemporary evening service, early worship opportunities on Sunday Mornings, a different format to Sunday morning communion and a more "traditional" evening communion service. We will continue to strengthen and enhance our worship services through the familiarity of the old ways and the challenge of the new.
Our worship service is the focal point of life together as a congregation; it is the time when we gather to be together as a church family, and to prepare for the next week of being God’s ambassadors in the world. I feel so moved when different people in our congregation unite their efforts and produce services that are inspired and inspiring!
