PART 1 – INTERPRETATION
Definitions
1 (1) In these bylaws:
“Act” means The Non-profit
Corporations Act, 1995 and any statute that might be
substituted for it, and any amendments to it;
“adherent” means any person
who is not a Member that wishes to:
(a) worship with the Congregation; and
(b) participate in, and contribute to, its
programs;
“Congregation” means Nutana Park Mennonite Church;
“deacon” means a member of the board of deacons;
“board of deacons” means the board of directors;
“Member” means a member of the Congregation;
“ordinary resolution” means a
resolution passed by a majority of the votes cast
by the Members who voted respecting that resolution;
“pastoral staff” means the pastors and ministers engaged by the Congregation;
“special resolution” means a
resolution passed by a majority of not less than
two-thirds of the votes cast by the Members who voted
respecting that resolution.
(2) Words and expressions defined in the Act have the same meaning when used in these bylaws;
(3) If these bylaws are inconsistent with
the Act or the regulations passed pursuant to
the Act, the Act and regulations govern.
